Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin give back to the Hispanic Residents of Arizona

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, who you may know from their time at the Phoenix New Times, created two new organizations: The Frontera Fund and Front Page Confidential.

During their time with the Phoenix New Times, Lacey and Larkin lead investigative efforts into Joe Arpaio’s misuse of his position as Sheriff of Maricopa County. This act of investigative journalism lead Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin to a jail cell after Joe Arpaio had his deputies arrest them.

Their new organizations are directly tied to this event. Joe Arpaio violated their first amendment rights as journalists, so Lacey and Larkin are using their new publication, Front Page Confidential, as a medium to discuss the topic of civil rights. The newspaper also includes content relating to migrant rights, politics, and civil rights. Occasionally, Front Page Confidential even includes pop culture in their paper, like when they published a story on Cosmo being removed from Walmart shelves. Joe Arpaio is a frequent topic in the newspaper as well. The journalists of Front Page Confidential are trying to prevent Arpaio from holding public office ever again.

The Frontera Fund, their other organization, takes a more noble route to dealing with Joe Arpaio. This organization is a charity that works to undo the damage caused by Arpaio during his 24 years of torment. Joe Arpaio harassed, arrested, and terrorized Hispanic residents, so Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are giving back to them via The Frontera Fund. The Frontera Fund provides information all about immigration on their website, and they donate fund to other charities.
